Guavanother Gimlet : An extremely refreshing sip.

Guavanother Gimlet is a cocktail we can (and do) drink a lot. She’s just sweet enough, refreshing and oh, so zestily aromatic.

The sweet tang of guava, snappy perfume of lime and floral sharpness of gin come together in a cocktail that has extremely wide appeal for all our testers and goes down very quickly.

Recipients: Every drinker, honestly.

Type: Made in the glass

INGREDIENTS

2 small wedges of lime

40ml gin

15ml lime cordial

60ml guava juice or nectar

Ice

METHOD

Get out a short tumbler glass.

Squeeze the juice out of your lime wedges into your tumbler. Gently bruise the lime’s skin to release a little of its oil.

Drop the lime wedges into your tumbler.

Add 40ml gin into your tumbler and then 15ml lime cordial.

Pour in 60ml guava juice or nectar.

Top with ice. Sometimes, I use crushed ice for the first round.

Garnish with a wheel or twist of lime, if you like.

Guavanother Gimlet : Not long for this world. Luckily, we snapped this photo so her beauty remains in our memory.

NOTE ON GUAVA JUICE

I don’t know the difference between nectar and juice or why these would be labelled differently. However, what we want is liquid that comes out of guavas without sweeteners or other fruit juices added. I recommend checking the ingredients and go with the most unadulterated guava juice or nectar you can find.

NOTE ON GIN

I like a traditional gin for this cocktail. Our tests were made with Aldi Darley’s London Style Gin and Tanqueray London Dry Gin.

ANECDOTE

My hairdresser (Yes, I have one. The mum bun atop my head requires maintenance.), sold me a shampoo. It smells of guava. Daily showering is one of my few times I’m alone with my thoughts. It was only a matter of time before I NEEDED to have at my greedy disposal a cocktail that delivered a perfect guava taste.
