Espresso Martini Alternative – Defibrillator

This is our version of an espresso martini, except we can’t call it a martini since it contains not one martini ingredient. However, you might, nevertheless, be left shaken, not stirred, after a few sips. 🙂

Recipients: Coffee lovers and those with strong cardiac muscles

Type: Shaken

EQUIPMENT

Martini cocktail glass

INGREDIENTS

60 ml espresso coffee

30 ml spiced rum

Half teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon sugar

Ice

METHOD

Add 1 teaspoon sugar to your espresso coffee and stir until dissolved.

Half fill your shaker with ice. Add espresso and sugar mix to your shaker, along with 30 ml spiced rum and half a teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Shake vigorously.

Strain the mixture into your martini cocktail glass.

SERVE

Serve it in the glass you poured it in. You can garnish it with coffee beans if you like.

Here are the ingredients you need to make Defibrillator.

OPTIONAL

1. Rim the glass with honey. This was my favourite. Try to keep the dripping honey on the inside of the glass or you’ll have sticky fingers. Ugh.

2. Add a small or large dash of cream. Stir or float it on top.

3. Add a small or large dash of coconut cream. Stir or float it on top.

4. Add a small scoop of ice cream.

ANECDOTE

This has been a super popular cocktail in our social circles, we often serve it as a party starter.
