Lagerita

This beer cocktail goes down easily. I suggest serving it at the start of your event and not all night.

Confession: I am unashamedly borrowing the basis of this from Nigella Lawson. I’m pretty sure she didn’t invent it, so I think it’s okay.

Recipients: Those about to party hard, at a party at which you need to break the ice, fast.

A jug of beer crossed with a margharita = tasty beer cocktail
EQUIPMENT

Large jug. If you have a small jug make a half measure at a time.

Stirring implement like a chopstick or big spoon

INGREDIENTS

1 litre beer

125ml tequila

125ml triple sec

Lime cordial

Lime or lemon juice

METHOD

Pour tequila and triple sec into the jug. Stir.

Add beer slowly. Stir slowly.

ADJUST

Add lime cordial until it is sweet enough.

Add lime or lemon juice to give it a bit of zing. How much you use depends on your taste.

SERVE

I make this and serve it in a large jug.

OPTIONAL

Lime or lemon slices make a nice garnish.

Anecdote

We first made these at Sue Henry’s Christmas Soiree. I think it was 2013. There were a few groups of guests that didn’t know each other. Lagerita broke the ice and became the glue of lifelong friendships.
