Citrus Spacek
This is intensely lemony as well as sweet. strong and sour. No other Gin and lemon cocktail will give you the same explosion of flavour.
Confession: Adele Bradshaw gave the punny name to a drink I made one night. A few days later when I wrote out the recipe, it turned out to be a caipiroska, made with mandarin vodka, which doesn’t deserve a name like Citrus Spacek. The only option was to come up with a drink sassy enough to fit the name. Here it is.
Recipients: Lemon lovers, friends with a sweet and sour tooth
Type: Made In Glass
EQUIPMENT
Martini or wine glass
Stirring implement like a chopstick or spoon
INGREDIENTS
30 ml gin
30ml triple sec
45ml lemon juice
90ml lemon squash or lemon mineral water
1 teaspoon lemon zest
2 tablespoons caster sugar
Slice of fresh lemon
METHOD
Mix the caster sugar and lemon zest on a saucer.
Wet rim of glass with lemon juice. Put the glass upside down on the saucer to crust the rim of the glass with lemony sugar. Wriggle the glass around to apply more or less sugar as desired.
Pour gin in your glass taking care not to knock sugar off the rim.
Do the same with triple sec, lemon juice and lemon squash.
Cut a neat slice of lemon and float it on top of your drink.
ADJUST
Add more lemon juice if you need more pep than it already has.
SERVE
Serve it in the glass you made it in.
OPTIONAL
If you find it too sweet or frilly you can omit the sugar rim.
